A letter to our Shambhala Mississauga community

Dear Shambhala Mississauga Community,

We are heartbroken about the recent letter from Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche about sexual harms and abuse of power.

If you are not yet aware of this, and would like to inform yourself, his letter, sent this past Sunday, is available online. The Kalapa Council, our Shambhala International community’s highest governance body, followed up with this letter on Wednesday. There is a webpage, accessible to all Shambhala members, outlining the range of responses they are putting in place to address these harms.

We want you to know that we are steadfastly committed to supporting our members. The only answer we have is to listen deeply to our own and each other’s experience, and to provide love and support going forward.

The most powerful force for healing is the truth. It pains us that this is part of our truth today. To share our feelings and thoughts – all of them – will help us build a path forward.

Yours in truth, caring and compassion,

Shambhala Mississauga Council
