Open to both new and experienced meditators.

This one-day retreat, Level I: The Art of Being Human, is the first step on the Shambhala path, introducing the practice of meditation as a way to start making friends with ourselves and learn to open to our experience with gentleness and appreciation. This is the first of Shambhala’s five Levels, a structured sequence of weekend retreats teaching meditation as a tool to develop fearlessness, confidence, openness, and gentleness toward ourselves and our world.

In Shambhala, warriorship refers to a commitment to nonaggression born from the willingness to meet our world without bias or judgment. Through practice, study, and experience, we learn to transform the challenges of everyday life into opportunities for both contemplative practice and mindful action.

This program includes meditation instruction and practice, talks by a senior teacher, group discussions, and more.
