Open to all!

Shambhala Retreat Level I: Feel Human Again (aka The Art of Being Human) is the first retreat in the Way of Shambhala curriculum.Open to people of any spiritual tradition, this mindfulness meditation retreat presents the view that unconditional goodness is the ground of our existence. Opening to ourselves with gentleness and appreciation, we begin to see our potential as genuine and compassionate human beings.

We usually associate happiness with fleeting moments of satisfaction, pleasure or comfort, but the Shambhala teachings and the meditation practice they are based on can lead us to a deeper and more enduring happiness. This is the path we set out to explore in this Retreat as mindfulness practice begins to open us to the depth and dimension of the present moment where we learn to appreciate who and what we really are.

The Shambhala Retreat Level 1 introductory retreat explores and deepens the basic technique of mindfulness meditation. By settling our minds we begin to see the magic of the world beyond our habitual filters. We experience the power and fulfillment of resting in the present and begin to make friends with ourselves.

About the Retreat

Shambhala Retreat I is designed for new meditators or those looking to reconnect with meditation practice. Our senior teacher will incorporate teachings into meditation instruction and informative talks. Through the practice of sitting and walking meditation, we will remember our natural confidence and relax to the freshness of the present moment, no matter what that moment may bring.

With the guidance of a senior Shambhala teacher we'll discover that awakening is not about escaping from the world we live in, but instead is about bringing a mindset of wakefulness to every aspect of our lives: work, play, relationships, and more.

Students leave with the tools they need to bring a mindfulness meditation practice into their daily lives.

Shambhala Retreat Level I includes:

  • Guided meditation instruction

  • Periods of meditation practice
  • Mindfulness meditation talks and discussion

  • Concluding reception
